Interface Schematic
I got a little ahead of myself. Here is a revision of the flow of the interface of MyStation.

Flow Chart
This is the framework of the MyStation user interface. This is subject to change as the application develops.

Here is some brain storming I’ve done for the general concept of MyStation.

I’ve also included some roughs of what the application could look like.

Design Brief
Design Challenge:
MyStation is a new iPhone/iPod Touch application that enables users to transmit their musical library wirelessly to other app users. The user sort of becomes his/her own radio station. There is currently no way to listen to a user’s iPod in real time from a distant device (strategy). The intention is to have a mobile social network for listening to/sharing music (scope).
Target Audience:
Product is open to men women and children of all ages but primarily marketed to college students ages 19-24. The location is America with potential for worldwide growth. Middle/upper middle classes are the target audience. They tend to be concerned with technology and the latest gadgets. They are very much a part of social networking and are always looking for a way to share their individuality with the world via facebook, myspace, twitter, and personal blogs.
Competitors:
MiShare file transfer device is a tangible object where you must link iPods to adjacent sides to receive files. There is a file sharing app out called Wi-Fi- File Sharing but it only lets you share pictures and document files, no music swapping. You must also be in an area with Wi-Fi Connection.
Differentiation:
MyStation is unique because it allows the user to emit their own “radio frequency” for users to tune into. Listeners can then listen to the users music as they listen to it in real time or browse their library. If there is something they like they can request to upload that song from their iPod Touch/iPhone to their own.
Design Goals and Objectives:
I want to make an easy to use iPhone/iPod Touch application for MyStation. The app would include a “home” page. A listener’s page which will show other app users in the area and also users that are already stored in your favorite stations. An upload screen would also be included as well as a profile page.
iPod to iPod File Sharing
I found this article for an iPod to iPod transferring device that makes sharing music through iPods possible without having a computer handy. Here’s a link to the merchant’s site.

“It automatically recognizes when you plug in iPods (either Mac or PC formatting) on either end, and it can transfer a three-minute song in five seconds and a 30-minute video in three minutes. The device can also transfer any files when the iPods are set to “disk drive” mode. Its rechargeable battery provides up to 1 1/2 hours of operation during transfers, and includes an AC adapter that recharges the device in four hours; iPods are recharged while connected. Songs transferred with digital rights management (DRM) formatting require appropriate iTunes password and authorization. – Coolest Gadgets“
This is the idea that I, for one in possible millions, have been waiting for.
